To Have and To Hold
When giggling over late night jokes and absurd situations we find ourselves in / as we process positive pregnancy tests / while crying tears of laughter and frustration / that time we sat in a South Dakota parking lot waiting for a car tow / dancing in the kitchen / after long days of feeling overwhelmed / teasing our daughter to close her eyes as we kiss slowly / in ordinary nights, our bodies fitting together like puzzle pieces as we sleep / on road trips and plane rides / in support when loved ones die / as we pray over each other / all of me and all of you / while we learn selflessness / throughout sleepless newborn nights / through the instability of finances and job changes / after fights when cultures, personalities, and viewpoints clash / when you drive me crazy with risk-taking / when I drive you crazy with machine-gun speed thoughts / all the days of our lives, one day at a time.
Happy 4th anniversary, Luis. I'm glad I chose you - no regrets.
